Food and the Arts at the Pines kicks off 2018

Join us for a leisurely dinner and feast on delectable dishes paired with wines from Kimmel Orchard and Vineyard and throughout the evening, we’ll sprinkle in poetry readings from Mary Hickman and Matt Mason, Nebraska poets and recent residents at the Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts.

We’re working up a fantastic menu you’re sure to enjoy and will release it soon!

Mary Hickman is a graduate of the Iowa Writers’ Workshop and the author of two books of poetry, This Is the Homeland (Ahsahta Press, 2015) and Rayfish (Omnidawn Publications, 2017), which won the 2016 James Laughlin Award from the Academy of American Poets, and two chapbooks, Ecce Animot (Projective Industries, 2012) and How to Be Healthy and Heal (Cosa Nostra Editions, 2011). Her work has been featured as a Boston Review Poet’s Sampler and in the PEN America Poetry Series. Her poems and essays have also appeared in numerous journals, including Colorado Review, Fourteen Hills, jubilat, and Sonora Review. She recently read in Turkey and Armenia with the US Department of State’s American Writers on Tour program. She currently serves as Artist-in-Residence at Nebraska Wesleyan University and teaches in the University of Iowa’s International Writing Program’s summer program Between the Lines.

Matt Mason has a Pushcart Prize and two Nebraska Book Awards; was a Finalist for the position of Nebraska State Poet; and organizes and runs poetry programming for the State Department, working in Nepal, Romania, Botswana and Belarus.
