“Make it. Learn. Do. Share.” will be the theme of a special family-friendly exhibit at the UNL Kimmel Education and Research Center during AppleJack.

Exhibits will include: 
“I Wonder” Book Debut: Written by Dr. Deb Weitzenkamp & Dr. Connie Reimers-Hild, this book encourages youth to think about the world in which they live. The Illustrator is Bruce Arant, author and illustrator of one of the 150 notable Nebraska books (Simpson’s Sheep Won’t Go to Sleep!) chosen for the Nebraska 150 Celebration.

Where Your Food Comes From: This touch-screen presentation by Rex Nelson lets visitors find out where in Nebraska various crops are grown and what ingredients go into some common foods.

On the Way to Market: Learn how much cost is incurred on the path from farmer to consumer by AustinDuerfeldt.

Join Extension’s team members from Nutrition and The Learning Child to Stretch From Head to Toe!  Stations include: interactive book reading, kids yoga, paper plate masks, activities to get children moving, and games to learn about healthy eating.

UNL Food Science Club members will be selling UNL Dairy Store ice cream to help fund club activities.

The Nebraska Extension exhibits will be open to the public from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 17. The UNL Kimmel Education and Research Center is located at 5985 G Rd.,  next to the historic Apple Barn at Kimmel Orchard and Vineyard, northwest of Nebraska City.
